Brightspot CMS User Guide

Controlling asset draft access

When drafting assets, you can control who has access to the draft by using the Users widget on the content edit page. For Brightspot to display this widget, you must enable it. For details, see Enabling the Users widget.

To control asset draft access:

  1. In the header, click add.
  2. Select the content type from which you want to create an asset.
  3. In the right rail, click widgets to open widgets for publishing tools.
  4. In the Users widget, under Access, select one of the following:
    • All Users—Default. The draft is available to all users.
    • Creator Only—The draft is only available to you.
    • Some Users—The asset is only available to the users you select in the Allowed list, assuming these users have access to the site, content type, workflow status, and any other limiting conditions.

Once finished, continue editing the asset as desired.

  5. Click Save.

Once saved, Brightspot displays a label and a banner on the draft that correspond with its access configuration. For example, a draft that can only be accessed by its creator will display both a Creator Only label and a banner that reads, This content is currently only available to you. To make this content visible to all users, update User Access. For a visual example, see the image below.

Note
Once you publish an asset whose access you have limited in this way, it becomes available to all users.
