Many companies use multiple applications for content planning including spreadsheets, documents, calendars, task management apps, and the CMS. To help bring more of these tools together we are providing two-way integrations with Google Calendar to import calendars into the CMS plus export Brightspot events to Google Calendar.
Editorial and marketing teams often work off shared calendars. To provide a consistent calendar experience and boost productivity, we've integrated Google Calendar with Brightspot.
This integration allows users to pull events from Google Calendar and import them into Brightspot, where they can be shared with other Brightspot users. Scheduled events and assignments in Brightspot can also be pushed back to Google Calendar."
First, development must configure a Google service to connect with Google Calendar. Once set up, users can authenticate their Google account under their profile settings in Brightspot.
Calendars are managed under a new admin area. Here, you can see all imported calendars and manage them within Brightspot. To add a new calendar, filter to Google calendars, click the three dots, and select 'Import a new calendar.'
Select the desired Google Calendar and hit 'Import.' A success message confirms the import, and you'll be directed to manage the calendar.
Manage access by giving permissions to new users, enabling site-wide access, or assigning access based on roles. Calendars automatically resync when events are added or changed, but you can manually resync, delete, or disable auto-sync if needed.
Users added to the calendar can view it in the new editorial calendar widget. You can manage which calendars are shown and assign each calendar its own color.
Brightspot events and assignments can also be exported to Google Calendar. This is managed under 'Sites and Settings.' Select 'Schedule Drafts' or 'Assignments' and choose the Google Calendar for export.
Choose specific content types or all content to appear on the calendar. Scheduled publishes and articles will sync directly to your Google Calendar.
