Alfred joined Brightspot in 2009, bringing a range of experience gained from 20 years spent as an entrepreneur, business development executive, operational leader and law firm partner. Overseeing business operations for the company, Alfred is responsible for making sure our revenue and profitability goals are met, while ensuring work is completed in a timely fashion and our clients are delighted.
Alfred manages the company’s facilities and human resources functions and directly or through outside counsel negotiates all of our third-party contractual relationships. In addition, he oversees the company’s pursuit of intellectual property rights through outside patent and trademark counsel.
Prior to joining Brightspot, Alfred held a number of senior executive roles at AOL, including COO of AOL’s Xdrive unit, where he was responsible for the unit’s business strategy and operations. As Vice President of Business Development, Alfred led efforts for a variety of AOL businesses, including AOL’s product and technology organizations, as well as the wireless, voice and premium services businesses. He led the team that negotiated the deals that enabled AOL to become the first in the industry to provide free anti-virus protection to all subscribers.
Alfred also co-founded SWARM Media, an innovative ad network focused on aggregating explicit user data from social media and Web 2.0 experiences to create next-generation ad targeting opportunities.
Alfred received his B.S. in Economics and Finance from the University of Florida and his law degree from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the Harvard Law Review.
Interests
In his free time, Alfred enjoys traveling with his family to new places, both overseas and domestically. Alfred spent many years coaching his daughters’ travel soccer teams and now accompanies his son on rock-climbing adventures. A voracious reader, Alfred cites Ender Wiggin, a character from Orson Scott Card’s “Ender’s Game” series, as his favorite fictional hero.
