Unlock the power of seamless integrated search technology that connects your content-management platform directly with external document repositories like Microsoft SharePoint.
With this integration, content creators no longer have to sift through files located in different locations, saving valuable time and providing assurance that content ownership and versioning is accurate, complete and consistent.
Microsoft SharePoint and Brightspot: How it works
The Brightspot CMS integrates with SharePoint via API, allowing the user to search for and import files and materials without the need for disruptive context switching.
This integration enables asset conversion, such as converting Word Docs into Articles or Blog Posts, or Excel sheets into Sections, Tags or Users, for example.
Once an asset is mapped to Brightspot, changes made in the original SharePoint asset are automatically synced with the corresponding Brightspot asset, eliminating the need for manual updates by content creators.
SharePoint and Brightspot: Use cases
- A corporate news team collaborates with an external PR agency to create a press release on a new executive appointment. Stakeholders review the final document in SharePoint. After approval, the marketing team imports the story to their CMS for publishing on the corporate website. Any future edits to the source document in SharePoint automatically update the publicly available version via the CMS.
- A company's IT department is migrating thousands of new employees as users of the new intranet, which is hosted in the company's instance of Brightspot. The master list of employee names, email, roles and permissions is maintained as a shared Excel spreadsheet in SharePoint. With the SharePoint integration, CMS admin can import employees as new CMS users and maintain the full list of access permissions and provisioning with the one-directional sync to the original resource.
